What you can do
SMS Reminders can activate a reminder automatically when two conditions are met:
The event has one clearly identified client mobile (after toll-free and conference numbers are excluded).
You've approved automation for that number or for your whole account.
If either condition isn't met, SMS Reminders asks you to confirm instead of activating on its own.
What makes a number "clearly identified"? A number is clearly identified and unambiguous when SMS Reminders has a track record of reminders already sent to it. That history gives a high level of confidence the number is the right one, so it can activate without asking. New numbers with no history come to you to confirm first.
Option 1: Approve one number at a time
No setup required — this is on by default.
Open an event where SMS Reminders has suggested a clearly identified number.
Next to Activate this reminder, select Always auto-activate reminders for this number.
Check the number shown is correct, then confirm.
That event and all future events with the same number now activate automatically. To keep a number as suggest-only, skip step 2.
Option 2: Turn it on for your whole account
Every event with a clearly identified number now activates automatically, with no per-number prompt. Ambiguous events still come to you to confirm.
Review and undo automatic reminders
Spot them: Auto-activated reminders show an auto-activated badge and the reason for the number chosen.
Undo one: Tap Undo on the reminder any time before it sends.
See all of them: On the main dashboard, set the drop-down in the top right to Auto-activated Reminders to view every auto-activated reminder in one place.
Fix a wrong number
Tap the Got it wrong link on the reminder.
Enter the correct number.
SMS Reminders forgets the old number and uses the corrected one going forward.
Change a number, attendee, or time
When you edit an event, SMS Reminders re-checks the number. If the number changed, it switches back to asking you to confirm before sending — it won't text a new number automatically.
FAQ
What happens if an event has two possible numbers? It won't auto-activate. SMS Reminders shows the options and you pick one.
Do I need to approve recurring appointments each time? No. Approving a number applies it to all future events in that series.
How do I turn automation off? Turn off the account setting, or use Got it wrong to forget a specific number.
