Why Didn't I Receive My Reminder

If you sent a reminder message and it was reported as not received, there's a few troubleshooting steps you can take.

Message Filtered or Marked as Spam

The most common reason a message wasn't delivered when expected is because it was filtered by the recipient's phone.

You can add the phone number to your contacts to ensure messages are received. We are currently using 855-391-0537 and 844-330-9620. Though these numbers are subject to change at any point in the future.

iPhone Users

The message might be in the Unknown Senders list. If this is enabled on the phone tap Filters in the top-right corner of the conversation list, then tap Unknown Senders. If you find the message here, tap it and then tap 'Mark as Known' so future messages will not be filtered.

You can also disable this feature:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Messages

  • Scroll down to Message Filtering, then turn on Filter Unknown Senders.

Android Users

The message might have ended up in your phone's spam folder.

  • On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Messages .

  • Tap your Profile photo or icon -> More options -> Spam & blocked.

  • Tap More options -> Blocked contacts.

  • Find the contact in the list and tap Remove -> Unblock.

Unsupported Country

The recipient phone number might be in a country we don't support. We support sending reminders to all of North America and most of Europe. However, there are some countries we do not support. You can see a full list here: https://www.smsreminder.app/unsupported-countries

If you attempt to send a reminder to an unsupported country, the app will flag this on your Dashboard.

Other Reasons

There are several other reasons your message may not be delivered. The app will show you if there's an error delivering a message to one of your recipients. Here are some examples:

  1. Restricted Content - Carriers will block messages that contain content related to cannabis, gambling or pornography. You are not allowed to send messages related to any of these areas.

  2. Landline - If the destination phone number is a landline, it cannot receive an SMS message.

  3. Unreachable Phone Number - Sometimes the phone may not be reachable because it's turned off or out of a service area.

  4. Unsubscribed Recipient - The destination number may have unsubscribed from receiving SMS notifications. To re-opt in a user that's unsubscribed, they must test 'start' to 1-844-330-9620.
