When your clients receive an SMS reminder, they may notice that the message comes from an unfamiliar number or name — not your business name or phone number. This article explains how SMS Reminder sends messages on your behalf and what your clients can expect to see.
Why doesn't the message come from my own number?
SMS Reminder sends messages through a managed messaging infrastructure to maximize deliverability. The sender displayed to your client depends on where their phone number is registered (their country code).
We cannot send messages from phone numbers we don't own or control, such as your business's number, which is controlled by your phone service provider.
North America (United States, Canada & Mexico)
For recipients in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, reminders are sent from a US toll-free number managed by SMS Reminder.
A few things to note:
The specific toll-free number used is not guaranteed and may change at any time. This is intentional — it allows us to optimize message deliverability on your behalf.
Recipients can reply to messages sent from toll-free numbers. Replies are forwarded to you by email when email notifications are turned on under Settings → Other Settings → Email notifications. If Appointment Confirmations are also turned on, the appointment status updates to match replies that confirm or cancel. See Two-way texting.
We recommend letting your clients know to expect messages from a toll-free number they may not recognize so they aren't caught off guard.
International recipients
For recipients in some countries outside North America, reminders are sent using an Alphanumeric Sender ID — a short text name that appears in place of a phone number.
Important: Recipients cannot reply to messages sent from an Alphanumeric Sender ID. This is a technical limitation of how alphanumeric senders work across international carriers.
In several countries, SMS Reminder has pre-registered these Sender IDs with local regulators as part of a compliance process. This helps ensure messages are delivered reliably and are recognized as legitimate by local carriers. Pre-registered countries include Australia, Thailand, Romania, and Czechia.

What should I tell my clients?
We recommend giving your clients a heads-up that reminders will arrive from SMS Reminder — not directly from your business. You may also mention to your clients to add the phone number to the contact list or mark them as a 'Known Sender' (on iPhone's) to ensure they receive the messages.
