Collection: SMS Reminder for Shopify → SMS reminders & billing

Once you've enabled SMS reminders (a paid-plan feature), make sure customers have agreed to receive texts from you before you send. Getting consent keeps your messages welcome and helps you stay on the right side of SMS rules.

This is general guidance, not legal advice. Rules vary by country and region — check what applies to your business.

Why it matters

Reminder texts go to real mobile numbers. Customers who didn't expect a text may be confused or mark it as spam, which hurts your delivery over time. A clear opt-in protects both your customers and your sending reputation.

Simple ways to collect consent

  • At booking: add a short line where customers give their number, such as "Add your mobile number to get appointment reminders by text." Collecting the number is itself a signal they want reminders.

  • On intake or account forms: include a checkbox like "Yes, send me SMS appointment reminders."

  • In person or by phone: ask, and note that they agreed.

Good practices

  • Only text customers who gave you their number for reminders.

  • Keep messages relevant — appointment reminders, confirmations, and follow-ups, not marketing blasts.

  • Tell customers how to stop. Let them know they can reply to your text with "STOP" or contact you at [your business contact] to stop reminders, and remove their number from the appointment when they ask.

Responding by text or link

Customers can reply directly to a reminder, or tap the link to confirm, cancel, or reschedule. Replies that clearly confirm, cancel, or reschedule are handled automatically; anything else is emailed to you to review.
