SMS Reminder turns your Shopify store into a booking store. Customers pick a time and book themselves in, and you manage everything from your Shopify admin. The app is free — you can charge for appointments through Shopify checkout, or collect payment in person.
Setup is three steps inside the app, with a short one-time onboarding in between.
What you'll need
A Shopify store
A Google account for your calendar
No coding required.
Step 1 — Finish your setup
Install SMS Reminder Appointment Booking from the Shopify App Store and open it from your admin. On the Connect SMS Reminder card, click Continue to SMS Reminder and sign in with Continue with Google, using the account for your calendar. Approve the permissions.
You'll land in a short onboarding that sets up your booking basics. A default availability schedule and a default appointment type are created for you — check them and adjust:
Your availability — turn on the days you work and set start and end times. You can copy one day's hours to the others, and block out holidays.
Your first appointment type — edit its name and duration, and set options like minimum notice, buffers, rescheduling, and which Google calendar it books into.
Finish with Finish & Get my Booking Page, then head back to the Shopify app. Step 1 now shows Done.
Step 2 — Link a booking product to an appointment type
An appointment is sold as a Shopify product, and the product's price is what your customer pays. In the Setup guide, open Link a booking product to an appointment type.
Click Choose product and pick the Shopify product you want customers to book — or Browse products in Shopify to create one first.
In Link it to an appointment type, choose the appointment type from Step 1.
Click Link appointment type.
You can link several appointment types to the same product.
Creating the booking product
If you don't have a product yet, use Browse products in Shopify → Add product, set it up like this, then return to the app and use Choose product:
Title — the service name customers see (for example, "Wellness Session").
Price — what the customer pays. Set it to $0 to collect payment in person or offer a free consultation.
Turn Track inventory off — availability comes from your open calendar slots, not stock.
Turn This is a physical product off — so Shopify doesn't add shipping at checkout.
Step 3 — Enable the "Book Now" button
In the Setup guide, open Enable the "Book Now" button and click Open theme editor.
In the theme editor, open App embeds.
Turn on SMS Reminder Booking.
Click Save.
Back in the Setup guide, click I've enabled it.
On a linked product, the Book Now button now replaces Add to cart. Want to change how it looks? See Turn on the Book Now button for the button colour, size and label defaults.
See what your customers get
Open a linked product on your storefront and click Book Now. Customers pick a date and time, enter their name and phone number, and add the booking to their cart to check out through Shopify checkout. Once checkout is complete the slot is confirmed, syncs to your Google Calendar, and shows in your upcoming appointments in the app. Your customer gets a booking confirmation email with the appointment details and links to reschedule or cancel, and you get an email letting you know about the new booking.
If you priced the product at $0, your customer still checks out — there's just nothing to pay, so no credit card is required — and you collect in person.
Good to know
The app is free — there's no per-booking fee, whether you charge at checkout or collect in person. What customers pay goes to you.
Deposits and partial payments aren't supported yet — a paid appointment is charged its full price at checkout.
Editing later — reach your appointment types, availability and booking page from the app's Edit appointment types and Edit availability links in the Shopify admin.
Switched themes? App embeds don't always carry over — if you change themes, re-enable SMS Reminder Booking in the new theme.
