Yes, see you then

What is two-way texting?

Two-way texting means your appointment reminder is a conversation, not a broadcast. When a client gets their reminder, they can simply reply in their own words — “Yes”, “OK”, “can’t make it”, a thumbs-up — and SMS Reminder reads the reply and responds automatically. The appointment status updates in your dashboard and your Google Calendar colour-codes itself: green for confirmed, red for cancelled, yellow for still pending.

Clients who would rather tap than type can still use the confirm or cancel link in the same message. Both work. They choose.

How it works

From reminder to confirmed, without you

1
Your reminder goes out
SMS Reminder texts your client before the appointment, using your template and your timing. Nothing changes about how you set reminders up.
2
Your client replies however they want
No script, no keyword to memorise. Clients write the way they would text a person, and SMS Reminder understands it — in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and German.
3
SMS Reminder answers automatically
The app replies to the client, updates the appointment status, and colour-codes the event in your Google Calendar. You do not touch anything.
4
Reschedules finish on the booking page
If a client asks to move their appointment, SMS Reminder responds and points them to the confirmation page, where they pick a new available time from your real availability. The calendar updates automatically.

What your clients can do by text

They text
What happens
“Yes”, “OK”, “see you then”
Appointment confirmed — the calendar event turns green.
“Can’t make it”, “cancel please”
Appointment cancelled — the event turns red and the slot is freed.
“Can I move it to Thursday?”
SMS Reminder replies and sends them to the booking page to pick a new time.
A question about the appointment
SMS Reminder responds automatically.

No exact keyword is required — these are examples of how people actually text, not commands your clients need to learn.

Why it matters

Why replies beat links

No extra step
A link asks a client to stop, tap, wait for a page to load, and choose. A reply asks them to do the thing they were already doing — texting.
Works on any phone
There is no app to install and no account for your client to create. If they can receive a text, they can confirm.
You find out earlier
A cancellation that arrives by text the night before is a slot you can still fill. One that arrives as a no-show is not.
It ends the phone tag
Clients who want to move an appointment can say so by text instead of calling during your working hours and leaving a voicemail you return between appointments.
FAQ

Common questions

Do clients have to text an exact word like “YES”?
No. SMS Reminder reads natural-language replies, so clients can answer however they normally would — “Yes”, “OK”, “sounds good”, or an emoji. You do not need to put reply instructions in your template.
What languages does two-way texting understand?
Replies are handled automatically in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and German.
Can a client reschedule just by texting?
They can ask to reschedule by text and SMS Reminder will respond, but the new time is chosen on the confirmation page, where they see your real availability. That keeps the booking accurate against your calendar.
Does the confirm or cancel link still work?
Yes. Every reminder can carry both. Clients who prefer tapping a link can, and clients who prefer replying can. Nothing is lost either way.
Do I need to set two-way texting up?
Yes — it is configured in the web app. It is not on by default.
Does two-way texting work with Google Calendar?
Yes. Appointment status updates flow back into Google Calendar automatically: confirmed events turn green, cancelled turn red, and pending stay yellow.
